You can view items up for auction without registering. But,
in order to bid on items you'll need to register first. You only need to
register once and if you ever forget your ID and Password you can enter your
email address and they will be sent to you.
When registering you will be providing your name, mailing
address, phone, and email address. It's very important that you enter
your email address correctly so please enter it carefully.
You are also asked for a User ID and Password. This is
where you set up your own user ID and Password for the system. Be sure to
enter a user ID that you can easily remember. The password should have
letters and numbers but still something you'll remember. Because you
can't see the password as you are entering it you are asked to enter it a
second time to make sure they match.
Once you have entered all of the information you are in and ready
to bid on things. The next time you come to the web site you will be
asked to enter the ID and password you just set up.
Viewing items are as simple as clicking on the 'Current Auction'
for the current auction, 'Future listing' for things about to come up for
auction, and 'Past listing' to view closed auctions. In all cases you can
select a category to limit the listing to just those items.
The main difference in the 'Current Auction' is that you also see
who has bid on what and for how much. You can also click on any one of
the listings to see the item and actually bid on it if you'd like.
To bid on an item you need to bring up the 'Current Auction' and
when you see what you are interested in you can click on it. You must be
registered and logged in in order to bid. You'll see that you can simply
enter a dollar amount in the bid box and press the 'Place Bid' button and
that's it! The bid amount has to be higher than the current top bid.
If no one has ever bid on an item but you see an amount in the
top bid spot that number is considered the minimum bid until someone bids
higher.
You can see the history of bids on any item from this view too.
If you see an item that a friend might be interested in you can
enter their email address and name and the auction system will send them an
email with the detailed information as well as a link so they can visit the
site and bid it they would like. Pictures are not emailed.
