Center Swim Lesson Instructor

announces recruitment for the position of an Aquatics Center Swim Lesson
Instructor.

Salary: $7.25 / hour (with lifeguard certification)
The
Job: Assume certain responsibilities, primarily, the development of
beginning to advanced swimmers and the successful teaching of swimming
strokes and techniques. Reports to the Aquatics Director with the indirect
supervision by the Community Services Supervisor. Directs all phases of
teaching to ensure the safety of all that participate. Responsible for
preparing the swimming facility for lessons. Responsible for the care of
all equipment used. Responsible for preparing lesson instructions and
lesson times. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements:
Working knowledge of swimming strokes and practices. Qualifications include
the ability to effectively meet and deal with the public, ability to
communicate verbally and in writing, ability to handle stressful
situations. Applicant must be a strong swimmer and work well with others.
Must be a self-starter capable of following through on assignments and
duties assigned. Applicant must be able to work morning, early afternoon,
late afternoon, and evening hours as determined by the swim lesson
schedule.
Certifications:
Preferred certifications include: Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid,
and Lifeguard Training. If necessary we will train qualified applicants.
Selection Process:
Will consist of an application screening with the most qualified candidates
being invited to participate in a personal interview. Appointment subject
to successful completion of background investigation and City-paid,
pre-employment, post-offer, physical examination and drug screening.
