The SLFAC offers classes to the community
in such areas as Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Jr.
Lifeguarding, 1st Aid and Safety, CPR, and more. These classes
happen throughout the year with a majority of them being between the months
of April through August. Keep checking back because these classes will
change on a regular basis. Our upcoming classes are found below: |

Lifeguard
Training
|
Show Low Family Aquatic Center is offering
Lifeguard training. This is an American Red Cross certified
training. This is a great opportunity to earn extra money, develop
leadership skills, gain valuable work experience and Have Fun!!
The prerequisites for this class are: Must be 15 years of age by
end of class. Swim 300 yards continuously ( front crawl stroke,
and breaststroke,). Submerge to minimum of 7 feet, retrieve
a 10 pound object and swim 20 feet with the object timed. |

WSI - Water Safety Instructor |
Successful completion of
this course will enable participants to become certified to teach American
Red Cross swimming lessons. The prerequisites of this course are:
- Be at least 17 years of age by the end of the
course
- Pass a pre-course evaluation consisting of:
- Water safety skills and knowledge consistent with
information taught in the ARC Community Water Safety course.
- Ability to demonstrate these swimming strokes:
front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and sidestroke.
- Ability to retrieve object from the bottom of the
pool.

Jr. Lifeguard |
| The American Red Cross
Lifeguard Tomorrow Program is available to youth ages 11-14 years old who
have the desire to learn about the responsibilities and duties of a
lifeguard. This program will help your child to build a foundation of
knowledge, responsibility and skills to become a future lifeguard. Your
child will receive instruction in prevention, fitness, response, leadership,
professionalism and swimming skills development. GUARD START IS NOT A
LIFEGUARD TRAINING CLASS. |
