Adult league sports Code of Conduct
The following “code of conduct” has been
adopted by the city sports program. These rules of conduct will be strictly
enforced during the playing season and/or tournament. It is the
manager’s responsibility to ensure all players know and adhere to
these rules.
1.
No player shall:
at any time lay a hand upon, or strike or threaten an official. Officials
are required to immediately suspend player from further play and report such
player to the league coordinator within 72 hours. Such player shall remain
suspended until the case has been considered by the league advisory board.
Minimum penalty:
suspension from two league games and placed on probation for the remainder
of the season.
Maximum penalty:
placed on suspension for life and/or assault charges filed.

No player shall:
be guilty of objectionable demonstration of dissent at an official’s
decision. Only one representative of the team (manager or coach) shall be
allowed to have any verbal contact with the official.
Minimum penalty:
warning by official.
Maximum penalty:
removal from game.
3.
No player shall:
refuse to abide by the officials’ decisions. Officials are required to
immediately suspend player from further play and report such player to the
league coordinator or league official within 72 hours. Such player shall
remain suspended until the case has been considered.
4. No player shall: be
guilty of using unnecessarily rough tactics (during the game) against the
body or person of an opposing player. Officials are required to immediately
suspend player from further play and report such player to the league
coordinator within 72 hours.
Minimum penalty:
placed on probation for the remainder of the season.
Maximum penalty:
suspension from two league games and placed on probation for the remainder
of the season.
5. No player shall: be
guilty of physical attack as an aggressor upon any player, official, or
spectator. Officials are required to immediately suspend player from further
play and report such player to the league coordinator or league official
within 72 hours. Player shall remain suspended until the case has been
considered.
Minimum penalty:
suspension for one calendar year and placed on probation for the following
year.
Maximum penalty:
suspension for life and/or assault charges filed.
6. No player shall: be
guilty of abusive attack (verbal) upon any player, official, or spectator.
Officials are required to immediately suspend player from further play and
report such player to the league coordinator or league official within 72
hours. Player shall remain suspended until the case has been considered.
Minimum penalty:
suspension from two league games and placed on probation for remainder of
season.
Maximum penalty:
suspension for one calendar year and placed on probation for the following
year.
7.
No team shall: allow its players and/or spectators to use alcoholic beverages or
drugs before, during or after any game.
Minimum penalty:
forfeiture of the game to the opposing team and/or team probation for the
remainder of the season.
Maximum penalty:
removal from the league for the remainder of the season.
8. No player shall:
smoke, drink or use profanity in any gymnasium used for the program or play
under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Any player who, in the opinion of
the game umpire or official, appears intoxicated, shall be ejected from the
game.
Minimum penalty:
placed on probation for the remainder of the season.
Maximum penalty:
suspension for the remainder of the season.
9. Any player being placed on probation
and reported violating the code of conduct will be given a minimum penalty
of suspension from one league game or a maximum penalty of suspension for
life.
10.
Any player and/or spectator ejected from a game must leave the team
bench, dugout or bleachers (out of sight, out of sound) immediately. Failure
to do so will result in forfeiture of the game. The player will be suspended
for their next league game, if forfeiture occurs.
11. Players suspended from league play
cannot participate as a player, coach, or spectator.
12. All city league participants are
governed by all the stated rules. These rules cover conduct before, during
and after scheduled activities.
13.
Participants may be held liable for damages caused by negligence.
14.
Teams are responsible for the conduct and actions of their
spectators. Failure to attempt to control disruptive spectators may result
in forfeiture of the game to the opposing team.
15.
Teams or individuals found misusing school or park facilities will be
suspended from participation in any City of Show Low Recreation Services
sports program for at least one year. In addition, teams or individuals will
be held liable for any facilities damages due to misuse.

and/or advisory board has the prerogative of modifying any code and/or
penalty when deemed appropriate.
