Show Low is The Gateway to Arizona's White Mountains and the quality of
life
here is unequaled anywhere. The area is famous for its world class hunting
and fishing opportunities.
Wildlife common to the area includes deer, elk, bear, antelope, mountain lion
and turkey. There are over 2,000,000 acres of National Forest land adjacent to
Show Low and over 40 lakes and streams in the immediate area. Camping and hiking
are popular activities. The Show Low and
White Mountains Trail Systems are the
pride of the community and provide over 120 miles of trails for hiking and
biking. ATV riding is quickly becoming a very popular activity in the
surrounding forests. The
White Mountain Open Trails Association and the
Apache County
Roughriders Club maintain many miles of trails for ATV's in the White
Mountains. Skiing buffs can take advantage of Arizona’s premier skiing destination,
Sunrise Park Resort.
Sunrise Park Resort is located a short 36 miles from Show Low and
offers 65 runs and 10 chair lifts. The resort also offers separate snowboarding
and cross country ski areas.
Show Low is a summertime golf Mecca. Visitors and residents alike enjoy
golfing in cool 75 degree weather on seven area courses. The master-planned
communities of
Torreon and
Bison Golf and Country Club
both offer homes that open up to the
golf
greens. The Torreon Golf Club features a 27 hole
championship course designed by world-renowned architects Von Hagge, Smelek and
Baril. The Bison Golf Club features a Billy Mayfair designed 18 hole
championship course.

Tennis, basketball, baseball and volleyball are readily available in over 85
acres of City owned parks throughout the community. These parks are surrounded
by an abundance of U.S. Forest Service land and the largest stand of ponderosa
pine in the U.S. The
Show Low Family
Aquatic Center is an indoor facility that offers a
6-lane 25-yard pool, an adjoining zero-depth pool with water slide and spray
fountain, and an indoor spa.
Show Low offers access to a variety of arts & entertainment groups and
venues. The Silver Creek Performing Arts Association sponsors and hosts local
theaters and choirs, as well as a number of special events. The Silver Creek
Little Theatre and the Silver Creek Community Choir are part of the association
and offer diverse performances of classic and modern works. The
White Mountain Symphony
performs a varied array of productions. A
local favorite is the sounds of the White Mountain Big Band.
A popular site for entertainment in the area is the
Hon Dah Resort Casino and Conference Center. The award-winning casino houses slot machines, Blackjack
tables and a Poker room. The center also offers live entertainment six nights a
week.
Show Low hosts a number of community events throughout the year. Perhaps the
biggest event is the annual Show Low Days which
features the White Mountains Outdoor Recreation Show, the White Mountains
Business Expo, the Mountain Festival of Arts & Crafts, a beer garden and thousands of attendees each day. FreedomFest is held each year
over the 4th of July weekend and features a parade, games, entertainment and a fireworks show.
The Show Low Main Street Farmer's
Market & Art Walk is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May
through October in downtown Show Low and features local produce, food products,
arts, crafts and entertainment.
Show Low also offers a wealth of dining and shopping opportunities from the
national chains to more regional fare. It is truly a city that blends the charm
of a small town with all the comforts of a larger city.
